Longstone Edge quarrying dispute goes to High CourtThe long running battle over excessive qurrying in the Peak district goesto the High Court later this month. Landowner, Bleaklow Industries Ltd, and operator MMC Midlands Ltd.are appealing against the ban on large scale limetone quarrying imposed by the Peak District National Park Authority. The quarry is near scenic Great Longstone in the White Peak. The Peak Park argue quarrying is doing irreversable harm and most walkers are keen that the fragile Peak District environment is preserved from industrialisation. The appeal against the planning decision is due in the High Court on the 28th and 29th February. |
