Increased funding for Peak District National Park Authority
The Peak Park Authority have been given an inflation busting funding increase in the latest spending round.
The authority are charged with protecting and enhancing the landscape and encouraging bio-diversity in the Peak district. It is to be hoped that they will spend the money carefully.
A 4.2 per cent funding in 2008/09, will see the Peak Park’s overall budget increase from £7.9 million to £8.2 million. Increases of 2.9 per cent in 2009/10 and 2.75 per cent in 2010/11 will follow on. Narendra Bajaria, chair of the Peak District National Park Authority, is quoted as saying ““This announcement lets us plan with confidence ways of protecting and enhancing the unique qualities of the Peak District for current and future generations.”
