Why are there two Christmas Trees on Kinder Scout?
I was walking across the Kinder Scout plateau at the weekend when i came across two Christmas trees growing wild on the moor. They are about four feet tall and are growing ten yards apart right in the middle if the Kinder plateau with no paths around.
Does anyone know why thay are there - Google offers no answer. If you know the story behind the trees please email me (links AT peakwalker.co.uk) and I will publish it on the site.
Sorry I didnt have my camera with me so no photos and I dont have an accurate grid reference (I may have been a tincy wincy bit lost!).
Coincidently the walk was a real cracker - Edale to Upper Booth - then up Crowden Brook which has a steep scramble at it's head (can be avoided by a path to the left). I then headed across the moor which was VERY muddy to the northen side of the plateau. it was in this middle section that I found the Christmas Trees. I then returned to Upper Booth via Kinder Downfall and Kinder Low. About 6 hours without many stops.
