New powers to control the scourge of off-roaders





As of 1st October 2007, a new law (Section 72 of the Natural Environment and Rural Communities Act 2006) gives the authorities the power to make traffic Regulation Orders to prevent the use of 4 wheel drives and trail bikes within national parks.

Off- roaders cause damage to rights of way and disturb the peace of the countryside for landowners and walkers alike. Lets hope the Peak District National Park Authority use their new powers vigorously!
