Peak District Birds of Prey Shame
Derbyshire now has the highest rate of reported persecution of birds of prey in the UK.
The RSPB Birdcrime report highlights 12 incidents of persecution of birds of prey in Derbyshire during the last year. These included poisoning, the theft of eggs and the destruction of nests.
Numbers of buzzards, hen harriers, goshawks and peregrine falcons remain stubbornly low in the Peak District, despite the efforts of conservation bodies.
