Edale Mountain Rescue Team new base appeal.I saw the Edale MRT out fundraising the other day to raise money for their new base in Hope. This rather set me thinking how lucky we are to have a free mountain rescue service in Britain. I have thankfully never had to use a mountain rescue team. My friends would say this is more due to good luck than good judgement! Nonetheless, it is reassuring to know that a top quality rescue service is available should I ever need it. Over the years I have saved a small fortune in insurance premiums that I would have paid if we had a continental style system that charged for rescues. Long may our present system may continue. Next time you see a collecting box for MRT, why not put a few coins in or donate to the Edale mountain rescue team online.
